From an early age I knew I was an artist. I come from a family of artists—all on my Mother’s side. I have 2 Uncles and one Aunt that are artists. Thus, it really didn’t come as much of a surprise to my parents when I began to show early signs of carrying the artistic gene. Truly, I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t love to draw or paint.
Being the oldest girl of 8 sisters, hosting drawing competitions was a part of everyday life! I was drawing long before I could write. I remember thinking I was a real artist when I won “First Place” for best drawing on a bookmark in the first grade. Even then I had drawn a picture of a colorful flower under a bright blue sky with white clouds, and a happy sun!
